I've received a few e-mails from people asking what the midweek chart position is for Crazy. At the time of writing (Wednesday) the midweek position of Crazy is number 24.

If you *are* planning to buy the Crazy single (either as the physical formats or the digital downloads via iTunes / HMV / Virgin) then it would be hugely beneficial to do so in this first week of the single release - a top 20 position is tantalisingly close at the moment!

¨ Andy Bell At Desert AIDS Project Gala

The Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards, the largest, most highly anticipated gala in the desert’s social season, will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Proceeds benefit Desert AIDS Project.

The 12th Annual Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards Gala will feature performances by cabaret artist Barbara Cook, as well as Andy Bell from Erasure.

The ceremony, which is expected to draw about 1,600 guests, will include a silent and live auction, cocktails and dinner, in addition to the musical performances.

Bill Jones, who is co-chairing the event, said he hopes to raise $250,000 for the Desert AIDS Project.

"For the live auction we have, for the second year in a row, a week stay at a villa in Spain owned by Andy Bell," Jones said. "We have an 11-day cruise from Rome to Athens, and a cocktail party for 50 guests."

Andy Bell will open the evening's entertainment and Cook will headline. The theme will be "an elegant evening with Barbara Cook."

Another notable personality scheduled to attend is actress and producer Angela Lansbury, a four-time Tony Award winner and star of stage, screen and television. She will be presenting the Arts and Activism Award to Tom Viola, the executive director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Sire Records celebrates 40 years with four-disc box set "Just Say Sire: The Sire Records Story" released today. The package includes 61 tracks on three CDs and a DVD showcasing 20 music videos. ¨ Tim Flach - Andy Bell Photographer

Tim Flach is a photographer who made photos of Andy for the artwork of his single "Crazy".

One of the recurring themes in Tims work is the connection between animals and Man, whether images of animals, humans or both. Tim has been the recipient of many international photographic awards from the Association of Photography (AOP), British Design & Art Direction (D&AD), Art Director's Club of New York (ACNY), Communication Arts (CA), and Photo District News (PDN) Photography. His major works have been exhibited around the world, including New York, London, Berlin and Tokyo.

Renowned within the advertising industry, Tim has been commissioned by many international corporations such as Adidas, Sony, Jaguar, and Singapore Airlines for large global campaigns.

Earlier this week, the stage costumes from "The Erasure Show" were delivered to the EIS office. After I've had chance to try them on plus have checked with the band which items they wish to keep, the remaining items will be auctioned off with the proceeds going for charity.

Following on from the last e-mail newsletter regarding manufacturing issues with the Crazy DVD Single, I'm glad to report that it's all be sorted now and all three formats of Crazy should be present and correct in HMV and Virgin Megastores on Monday morning.

¨ Electric Blue Ringtones

If anyone has had problems with ordering / receiving the Electric Blue ringtones, please e-mail support@pocketgroup.co.uk with details of your phone, network and ringtone ordered.

Someone will investigate the problem and make sure that you either receive the ringtone that you ordered or you get a refund for tones that are billed but not received.

¨ Competition Time

As you know, Andy, Chris and Philip will be celebrating the release of 'Electric Blue' with a special gig at London's Electrogogo club night at Madam JoJos in Soho on Thursday 6th October.

This will be their second ever live show (they kick off in Berlin next weekend) and they'll be playing songs from the album which is released on 3rd October. Claudia Brucken will be also performing a couple of tracks with them. DJs on the night include Mark Moore from S-Express, and the fantastic Knights will be supporting them.

The event is nearly sold out (see link below to buy tickets online), so how about a competition where the first is a pair of tickets for the event, plus a meet & greet with Andy, Chris and Philip?

¨ "The Erasure Show - Live In Cologne" DVD

Yes!! Details for the eagerly anticipated "The Erasure Show - Live in Cologne" DVD can now be revealed!

With 25 songs from this years 'Erasure Show' performance (filmed in Cologne), 3 from the 2003 'The Other Tour' performance (filmed in Copenhagen) plus the addition of bonus material, this DVD is certainly a well rounded package.

¨ 'The Box' Music Channel

For those of you in the UK, make sure that you tune into the music channel 'The Box' this weekend (10th / 11th Sept), as they will be playing quite a few videos featuring Andy!

¨ Important - UK & Ireland Erasure Postal Database

Mute UK's marketing department send out slipcases to promote forthcoming releases of Erasure singles to those addresses which are held on the Erasure postal database. This database is comprised of the information that is sent in from returned reply cards, addresses submitted via the EIS etc.

As you can imagine, after several years the information contained within this database has gotten stale, therefore it is being wiped and recreated.

If you are resident within the UK or Ireland and wish to continue to receive whatever promotional items that Mute send out, it is important that you add you details to this new database ASAP (there is the possibility of a slipcase being produced for the forthcoming Erasure Show DVD).

- Photo Gallery -
A selection of pictures from the recent BBC Radio 2 Blackpool event has been added to the fan gallery, as well as additional photos from 'The Erasure Show'.

This week "Crazy" is at # 12 in UK Future Chart (up from # 14). "Electric Blue" is at # 33 (up from # 36).

¨ Blackpool Illuminations Performance

Andy Bell performed live at the switching on of the Blackpool Illuminations together with Manhattan Clique, Valerie Chalmers and Ann-Marie Gilkes. They performed 6 songs: "Ship Of Fools", "Love To Hate You", "Chorus", "Oh L'Amour", "Stop!" and "Breath Of Life". After their performance the show went live on BBC Radio 2, band McFly came on stage and did 3 songs, but then Erasure returned back to perform "Breathe" and "A Little Respect" which were broadcasted live on Radio 2.

Make sure that you tune into BBC Radio 2 between 20:30 and 21:30 on the 2nd September to hear Andy perform live at The Blackpool Illuminations event.

BBC Radio 2 is available live via DAB digital radio, the Internet, Sky Digital, Digital Cable and Freeview. It is also possible to listen to BBC Radio 2 shows for 7 days after broadcast via the BBC Radio 2 website.

¨ Pre-Ordering 'Crazy' / 'Electric Blue'

With Andy's debut solo single and album nearing release, I would like to highlight the importance of pre-ordering and first week purchasing.

Those of you that receive the official Erasure (EIS) email newsletter will be familiar with such promptings - however the importance of a successful chart position for this new project can not be overstated. I realise it may seem obvious, however high chart placements *do* encourage further singles and subsequent live / TV appearances, something that all us fans appreciate and want more of!

So if you are able to, pre-order the album and singles in your local store to demonstrate the demand to retailers, and if you'll be buying the single and / or album then doing so in the first week of release would be great!
